National Youth Crime Prevention
Criminal activity is everywhere and crime prevention is our best defence to avoid becoming a victim. Crime prevention, such as what is described in our magazine, is a step toward dealing with the problem of crime in our communities. Obviously, the police can't be everywhere all the time, so it is up to all of us to do whatever we can to prevent criminal activity from taking place. We should all recognise that with the growing sophistication of criminals, crime prevention must be implemented to reduce the windows of opportunity that so often lead to a crime being committed.
Being an alert, involved, member of the community; noticing neighbours, local kids, being aware of strangers and strange activity are as valuable as the police themselves in protecting our community. We all have an obligation to help ourselves, our family and our community to the best of our abilities. In fact you and I are the first line of defence against crime. If we are aware of the different types of crime, why they occur, and how they effect individuals, families and the community we can be prepared and feel more secure in taking preventative action against crime.
This is where National Crime Prevention steps in.
National Crime Prevention magazine presents the facts about crime and preventing crime in a way that you and your family can understand. We hope to offer both informative and entertaining articles that may give some insights into the more "everyday" crimes that occur in our community and what steps you can take to avoid becoming a victim. We are currently up to our 18th year of publishing National Crime Prevention and in that time have covered a wide variety of topics from domestic violence to cyber crime and a special feature edition on prisons and prison life. We have tried to offer a balanced and entertaining viewpoint throughout our editions and hope that people have found our articles informative. In the future we intend to continue bringing readers an ever expanding range of topics on everyday crime and crime prevention.
